Samsung Galaxy I9100 S II
Samsung Galaxy S2. For many of us, the best phone of 2011. And no wonder. We are talking about the worthy successor of the successful Samsung Galaxy S, a device that has taken Samsung around the world and turned it into a force able to dethrone the mighty Apple.
In this sense we can say that the new Samsung Galaxy S2 incorporates significant improvements regarding the screen but preserves the flawless Super AMOLED technology, we will see how this new terminal incorporates the Super AMOLED Plus variation, an enhanced and improved version of this technology owned by Samsung.
We must say, though, that the screen increases to 4.27 inches, spreading throughout much of the surface of the device. As if this were not enough, we note that the new Samsung Galaxy S2 is a connectivity beast that goes beyond meeting the expectations of the most demanding customers. Another significant development has to do with the fact that it incorporates a dual core processor and the Gingerbread Android 2.3 operating system as a standard feature.
Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy S2 follows the same design line that has been promoted by the Samsung Galaxy S, dedicating part of its the surface to the extension of the screen and turning the device into a very light terminal. In fact, as far as we know, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a maximum thickness of nine millimeters, which makes it one of the thinnest on the market.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 has a 4.27-inch capacitive screen which really stands out. And for this occasion, Samsung has chosen an AMOLED Super Plus screen, remarkable for exceeding the performance of the classic and acclaimed Super AMOLED. In any case, we can say that the new screen on this Samsung Galaxy S2 has a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, allowing us to display all the phone options, in addition to pictures and videos of high quality, higher contrast and brighter colors.
Connectivity
As THE terminal revelation of 2011, the Samsung Galaxy S2 could not do anything but strictly comply with the connectivity options we all expected. In this sense we can say that the Samsung flagship operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and HSDPA 900/1900/2100. This means the phone can connect to 3G networks with transfer rates of 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps . As usual in these cases, the terminal will also allow us to access Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n. In addition, Samsung Galaxy S2 also allows us to connect via Bluetooth 3.0.
But in this connectivity section (usually boring, let’s be honest) there are some other interesting features. We refer to the fact that the device incorporates integrated GPS with A-GPS , which will help us set our own maps and routes, both by car and by foot. In fact, by having the Android operating system, the user will have the opportunity to access Google Maps totally free.
In the area of physical connections, the new Samsung Galaxy S2 features a 3.5 mm output for headphones, plus a slot for microSD cards . This means we have the opportunity to expand the phone’s memory (16 GB in principle) to 32 GB, doubling it in size. The device also has a microUSB 2.0 output that helps us to transfer and synchronize phone data to your computer, in addition to charging the battery without the need of connecting the device to the electrical outlet.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy S2 does not disappoint if you look at the camera. It includes an 8.0 megapixel sensor, capable of capturing images at a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels, which is not bad. In this sense, we must add that we also have the opportunity to record video in high definition (HD) at 1080p – 30fps . Some other interesting features are the Flash LED, the possibility of geotagging, autofocus and face detection . We also need to add a 2.0 megapixel secondary camera which can be found on the front of the phone, very useful for programs that support video conferencing.
Operating System and Multimedia
It is clear that when building a flagship for your phone fleet, you cannot use some old, rusty operating system. Thinking about this fact, Samsung has put Android 2.3 Gingerbread on the Samsung Galaxy S2, which will for sure delight lovers of the Google operation system.
Another interesting development has to do with the fact that Samsung chose a dual-core processor for this phone, making it, at its launch time, the fastest handset on the market. Samsung Galaxy S2 is powered by a Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos chipset.
As said earlier, the device integrates GPS and digital compass. It also incorporates accelerometer and the corresponding rotation and lighting sensors. In the multimedia section, we can say that the Samsung S2 Galaxy is perfectly compatible with most common formats for image, video and audio: MP4, DivX, XviD, WMV, H.264, H.263, MP3, WAV, eAAC +, AC3, and FLAC . Beyond that it supports JAVA and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and it is able to record voice, making it a perfectly competent multimedia device.
