Bring creativity to your photos with new scene modes such as Miniature Effect and Fisheye Effect. Plus Low Light mode for dimly-lit situations.
New Smart Shutter technology automatically takes a picture when the subject smiles or winks.
The IXUS 130 retains the sleek form factor from the IXUS 100 in terms of dimensions. Infact, the IXUS 130 has a steel body finish. The only drawback is that the IXUS 130 has no electronic viewfinder. The display screen is a bright 2.7” widescreen with amazing clarity and all the buttons are well placed. The navigation keys are a bit small for comfort, but one gets used to them in a few days. It has 4X optical zoom, which is nothing to boast about as competitors in the same price range offer a larger zoom.
Thought the battery life is most impressive with the camera providing us around 350 shots on a single charge! The camera comes with a direct mini HDMI out port as well for direct connectivity to a LCD TV/monitor.
The camera takes snaps at 14.1 MP resolution and records videos in 720p HD resolution. The camera provides ton of options to play around with including two new shooting modes – Miniature and fish eye effect. Both the effects are generally available in high end DSLR’s using specific lenses. Moreover, even the Smart Auto setting has got new additions with a mode meant for shooting while on the move. If you are in a car or even just walking, the camera sensor detects the movement and adjust the various settings to get a sharp image. The camera also comes with smart flash exposure, which basically adjusts the various settings for aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc to provide optimum level of flash for improved photographs.
The result of this is the camera takes stunning images not just in daylight but even indoors and at night. The images are rich in color with sharp details and the videos are of outstanding quality. The only drawback is perhaps the fact that a high-speed card is required to enjoy the camera’s fast speed. When using a normal speed card, the camera took just over a second to save the image and be ready to click the next one.
The IXUS 130 retails for around Rs.11,000 and is the best point and shoot camera if you are looking for something in a compact size.
