MSI announced the WindPad Enjoy 7 with some competitive specifications which will fulfill a lot many criteria for being a trade good. WindPad Enjoy 7 comes in two variants - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi +3G. MSI has currently launched only the Wi-Fi version in India.
The Enjoy 7 is undoubtedly the best budget tablet so far, in terms of build quality and looks. The overall fit and finish gives a premium look - the glossy front and brushed metal finish on the back working together nicely. The four standard Android buttons present near the display are backlit in white.
The Enjoy 7 has a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch display screen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels bearing excellent responsiveness, colors and brightness. Having very good tactile feedback, the power button and volume button are rested on the side. The lower edge houses the mini USB port (charging and data connectivity), a mini HDMI port as well as a covered microSD slot.
Menacingly, the glossy bezel around the tablet is a fingerprint magnet and the viewing angles are also an issue. Viewing at an angle of more than 45-degrees leads to loss of colors and visibility - a big issue if something on the screen is to be shown to multiple people.
Under the hood, it has a 1.2 GHz processor,
512MB RAM and 4GB onboard storage expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB cards are supported). Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are present for wireless connectivity and the mini USB port supports USB on the go (to directly connect a USB flash drive). Performance wise, it does not disappoint - as expected. With multiple apps, games and browser windows running in the background, the tablet did not show any signs of slowing down.
The Android 2.3 platform creates no problems while switching between apps. It even plays 720p HD videos without a hitch, directly from a USB flash drive. It elegantly powers up a 500GB portable hard-drive and shows it as an external drive which is next to impossible on other Android tablets, budget or otherwise.
The battery gives ample 5to7 hours of non-stop video watching if fully charged. The cameras are efficient in clicking mediocre pictures though there could be a lot of noise while getting a click indoors.
The tablet is stuffed with many quality features and comes for the price of a budget Smartphone. Being priced at 12,500 INR, t he Wi-Fi version of the WindPad Enjoy 7 is the best budget tablet (if you do not need voice calling and 3G). An additional USB needs to be purchased as it does not ship along in the box. Therefore, one must think-think and react soon.
