Motorola DEFY+ JCB Edition launched in UK

Motorola has launched the JCB Edition of the DEFY+, rugged Android phone. They announced the DEFY+ last August and launched last September. This JDB edition has visco-elastic protective sleeve from JCB that are capable to withstand extremely demanding conditions and rugged outdoors. The feature are similar such as 3.7-inch (854 × 480 pixels) capactive touch screen display 1 GHz processor and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System.

Other features include 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS with A-GPS, USB 2.0, FM Radio with RDS, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, 2 GB MicroSD card bundled and 1700 mAh battery.

It also comes with bespoke JCB applications including a spirit level, theodolite, decibel meter and recorder, torch, unit converter, calculator and DIY store locator for construction site users.

The Motorola DEFY+ JCB Edition also comes with a car charger with an extra long curly cable and is available from UK retailers for an RRP of £259.9. It is also available for a cheaper price at £238 from Clove UK.

LG Optimus Pad LTE with 8.9-inch True HD IPS display and 1.5 GHz dual-core processor

LG has announced their first LTE tablet, LG Optimus Pad LTE that features a 8.9-inch ( 1280 x 768 pixels) True HD IPS in Korea. It is powered by 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual-core / dual channel processor and runs on Android 3.2 (Honeycomb). It has 8MP camera with Full HD video recording, flash and BIS sensor, 2MP front facing camera. It is 9.34mm thick and weighs 479g.

Other features include, LTE, HDMI out, WiFi with DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) support, Bluetooth, T-DMB support t, 32GB expandable memory and 6800 mAh battery.It also comes with smart movie editor for video and image editing,Web Duet social platform, On Screen Phone function that is compatible with LG smartphones.

The LG Optimus Pad LTE would be first available in South Korea from LGU+.

Motorola MOTOLUXE on pre-order in UK

Motorola MOTOLUXE  is now available for pre-order in UK. Motorola announced the MOTOLUXE  along with the Motorola DEFY MINI last week. Clove UK started taking pre-orders for the Motorola DEFY MINI yesterday and now they have announced that Motorola MOTOLUXE is also available for pre-order.

The Motorola MOTOLUXE has 4.0-inch (480 x 854 pixels) display, 8MP camera with LED flash, VGA front camera and is powered by 800MHz CPU and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

It is sleek which is just 9.8 mm thick and weighs 123.6g. It comes with 1GB Internal memory with expandable memory up to 32GB with MicroSD, 512MB RAM and a 1390mAh battery.

The Motorola MOTOLUXE  is priced at £215.00 (£258.00 including VAT) in UK and is available for pre-order from Clove. It would ship late February / early March.

Samsung Star 3 and Star 3 DUOS

Samsung has announced 2 new touch screen phones, Star 3 and Star 3 DUOS that is the successor of Samsung Star, Star Duos and Star 2 phones. These phones come with 3-inch (320 x 240 pixels) TFT LCD touch screen and 3.2 Megapixel Fixed Focus camera. These specs of the Samsung Star 3 DUOS is similar but the only different is the Dual SIM capability.

Mercury mTab2 launched at Rs.11999

Kobian has launched a new version of its sub-Rs. 10,000 tablet, the Mercury mTab, called the Mercury mTab2, priced at Rs. 11,999. Running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the refreshed 7-inch Mercury mTab2 is “a faster, lighter and smarter device” compared to the original.

The original Mercury mTab tablet featured a 1.2GHz triple-core processor, certainly a rarity in the market. The new mTab2 will apparently be faster with a 1GHz dual-core processor however. Other specifications include 512MB of RAM, a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen, 8GB of built-in storage expandable with microSD (up to 32GB), integrated speaker and mic, USB2.0 port, HDMI out, and Wi-Fi connectivity. 3G connectivity can be managed via a USB data card.

Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman Android smartphone launched in India

Sony Ericsson has officially launched its Live with Walkman smartphone in India. Priced at Rs. 14,549, the Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor. The Live With Walkman, second Walkman series Android phone after the Sony Ericsson W8, is also scheduled to receive Android 4.0 ICS update.

The new Live with Walkman phone sports a 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touch display with 480 x 320 pixels resolution, 5MP rear and 0.3MP secondary cameras. It has 512 MB of RAM and comes with a 2 GB memory card. The storage, however, can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. 'Live with Walkman' ships with a 1,200 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver talk time up to 14 hours on 2G and 6 hours on 3G. On the connectivity front, the Live with Walkman supports 3G, Wi-Fi with DLNA support, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone is available in two colours -- black and white. Customers are offered 2GB of mobile data free for one month along with 3 hours of mobile TV.  Asus has unveiled the Transformer Prime TF700T, upgraded version of the Transformer Prime TF201. This features a 10.1-inch (1920x1200 pixels) HD  Super IPS+ display, 1.3 GHz Quad core Cortex A9, 12 core GeForce GPU and runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.01. It comes with the same 8MP Auto-Focus camera with dedicated LED Flash back but has upgraded 2MP secondary camera. It would also come with new back panel design to enhance radios such as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus a.k.a Samsung P6200 is now available at the online shopping site flipkart.com for Rs. 26,499. Lenovo has unveiled a new 10-inch tablet, called the IdeaTab S2, which is vying for the title of the thinnest and lightest tablet in the market, at just 8.64mm thick, and a weight of 590 grams. Review:
The Display: The display is all bright and responsive but not really that crisp what with the resolution of 320 x 480 which is a tad low for this display size. The display is bright enough but not dazzling like some other high end phones currently available. In bright sunlight, the legibility of the screen is not so good. But, that’s something which plagues all other handsets of this budget range. The pixellation can be seen on little bit of careful inspection which otherwise is not much noticeable unless you are degrading from a higher end phone with much better display. So, don't go looking for it and you won't see it ( or you might if you really look at screens the way I look ). But overall it gets the job done well, so no real reason to fret. The multi-touch enabled capacitive touchscreen is highly responsive, responsive even to a feather light touch which makes the phone very pleasant to play around with. The multi-touch inputs, accelerometer sensors etc. all combine for a very decent fluid experience. The display comes protected with a Gorilla Glass surface so we know that it won’t be too fragile. So, except for the resolution bit, this display is very pleasing in all respects.

The Lumia 800 is crafted out of a single piece of polycarbonate and as a result is as light as a feather.

At the bottom of the Nokia Lumia 800, there's a speaker. We didn't hear the sound quality of the Nokia Lumia 800, and with the speaker's size, we don't expect it to pack the loudest sound, but at least the music can be heard whether you have the facing screen up or down.
There's the usual earphone jack at the top and a microUSB connection for charging and connecting to your computer.
he screen is a ClearBlack display and it's slightly domed. This makes it feel as though the Windows Phone interface is jumping out at you and feels all the better for it. However, it does attract fingerprints, as does the Lumia 800's whole finish.
Around the back and you'll find an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera. Apparently, it lets more light in than other cameras. We didn't really see this (and we're not sure if it will be particularly handy), but the camera quality is top notch – as you'd expect from Nokia.
The thing most people are looking forward to with the Nokia Lumia 800 though is the Windows Phone operating system.

The back cover seems brushed as if with metallic finish, but is made of plastic, and is pretty slippery. It is a somewhat bulky piece for its screen size at 0.48” (12.2mm), and there's enough grip on the sides. It is light, but comparatively thick, and this chubbiness, coupled with the signature tapered back of the new bada handsets make it easy to hold.

The 3.65” LCD display sports the same 320x480 resolution we find on the lowly Wave Y, which means  that its 158ppi pixel density is worse than the category average - the interface looks granular throughout. Sunlight visibility is decent only when the screen is at full brightness, and you have to do this manually as there is no light sensor.
